Janice Torrey (Wendt)

Janice L. "Jan" Wendt, age 69, of Kenosha died at her residence with her family by her side on Thursday, November 28, 2013.  Born in Woodworth, WI on August 31, 1944, she was the daughter of the late Robert and June Torrey.  She attended Pleaseant Prairie grqde school, McKinley Jr High and was a graduate of the class of 1962 from Mary D. Bradford High.  On April 20, 1963 she married Leo Wendt.  Jan was a licensed practical nurse. 

She was a member of St. Elizabeth Catholic Church.  Since 1963 she was a member of the Kenosha Womens Bowling Association.  Since 1972, Jan participated in city, state and national bowling tournments and was lucky to have won several.  In 1966 she becam a director of Kenosha Womens Bowling Association and was a delegate to many Wisconsin cities.  In June 2004 Jan was voted to the Hall of Fame for meritorious service and superior performance.  She was especially proud of winning the mother-daughter event in the city toutnment in 2007.  Jan bowled every Monday night with her daughter Chris, grandaughter Ashley and best friend Mary.  She enjoyed crafting and making many gifts for her family and friends.  Jan loved the many happy times she spent with her family at their cabin in northeast Wisconsin, fishing and flower gardening.  She loved all the dogs she had in her life especially her current faithful canine companion, Bear.

Jan is survived by her husband of 50 years, Leo Wendt and her two children, Ron (Pam) Wendt of Beecher and Chris Jones of Kansasville. Also surviving are two grandchildren, one brother and four sisters.

I'm so sorry for our loss of Janice.

I had the pleasure of attending McKinley Jr. Hogh and Bradford H.S. with her.
