Denny and I grew up together in the Washington Park area . Our houses were around the corner from each other .  We attended Grant School and Washington Junior High together before KHS.  We were friends in grade school and remained friends throughout our lives.  Both of our families have Scottish backgrounds and we attended many Scottish events together.   My family visited Denny and his wife Sue on numerous occasions either in Madison, Sioux Falls or at their cabin outside of Yellowstone National Park at Henry's Lahe, Idaho.  On one visit to"The Cabin " Denny took me and my son on a fishing trip.  We went to Yellowstone and hiked about 2 miles to the rim of the Yellowstone River.  We descended into the river valley just below the upper falls and then began our fishing.  Of course, Denny caught most of the trout and then cooked them for us.  We spent all day in this spectacular setting and then hiked back up and out of the canyon.  On our return to "The Cabin", my son and I were exhausted and needed to rest.  Denny then went on a five mile run.  My family and I will miss Denny and his ever present smile and his love for life.  We have truly lost "one of the great one's"
