John was one of Boulder CO most recognized and loved iconociasts. John graduated from Western Michigan University. After army tours in Japan and Turkey he became a civil servant in the Boulder post office. The piano, classical and gospel music were a big part of his life. Garage sales, flea markets and antique shops were his many stops. He was a gourmet cook which he shared with family, friends and just about anyone who crossed his path. He truly lived the life he wanted to live with intelligence and humor. John did things his own way and marched to a different bagpipe. When John went to the hospital for the last time he was wearing a button that said "Another Aging Hippy Against the War". Rest in peace dear brother.

I just learned of John's death in reading this profile today. I'm saddened by the loss of this talented classmate who I had the joy of hosting at my home for a recent past reunion of our class. I was so looking forward to seeing him again.

Oh no, not John. I just five minutes ago saw his name on this list and am so sad. John was such a friend, such a guy. At our 40th when I said I'd see him at the 50th he said, well, that's a long time to go and we might not make it, so let's go for 45...shoulda, John. I'm so sorry. Rest in peace. Love and Bud. Karen
