Bruce Gerlach

Bruce A. Gerlach, 73 of Kenosha passed away on Saturday, Sept 9, 2017 at Loyola Medical Center in Maywood, Ill. Bruce was born on Dec.22, 1943 to Clarence and Marie Gerlach.  He graduated from Mary D. Bradford High in 1962.  Bruce served in the U.S. Navy from 1962 until his honorable discharge in 1964.  He retired from the Kenosha Fire Department.  Bruce loved music and fishing and was an avid fan of the Green Bay Packers. 

He was preceded in death by his parents, his grandson,Garrette Erskine, a sister, Shirley Johnson and his brother James Gerlach.  Bruce is survived by two daughters, Lisa Gerlach and Shari Erskine: a great grandson, William Erskine: his brother, Dean (Kathy) Gerlach and many other family and friends.

Rest in Peace fellow classmate.

Sorry to hear of Bruce's passing. He was a good guy. He used to hang out with Ed Carroll, Randy Hansen, and I both during our times at Lincoln Jr. High and at Kenosha High.  He will be missed.

Bruce had a tough time with depression but I remember those happier times. He gave me this huge aqua and white stuffed dog when we were Sophomores that I kept for years. He always made me smile.

I thought long and hard about posting a comment since it would have been better to convey my feelings to him while he was alive.   I last spoke with him in 1993 when during a visit with my mother, I ran into him while he was walking his dog.  I feel blessed that we were good friends. He and our other mutual friends shared may happy times, adventures and misadventures in middle and high school and beyond. Our lives took us in many different paths when we graduated from high school.  We all had other issues and challanges in life that led us in other directions.  Thanks for the great memories.  Rest in peace.

He was a year ahead of me, but we worked together at the box factory and on the Fire Dept.  He was great guy.. We did a lot of things together off duty, fishing.. etc..  Bob Rosera  class of 63
